@We tend to consider that the meals we eat today have never been
better in our history. Any ingredient from anywhere in the world is available
and on the high street, meals from almost everywhere in the world can
be enjoyed. However, at the same time concern about food has never been
so common, e.g. the fear of food additives, MRI, EDS, adulteration, etc.
In order to think about the future of food, it is a good time for us to
look back over our culinary history. English food is unique to us for
two reasons. Firstly, English food is one of the best-investigated food
with respect to its history or origin, probably due to the conservative
disposition of British people. Secondly, English food has been, in fact,
one of the most influential (or successfully introduced) western foods
to Japanese cooking. Let's start to think about what are the most important
aspects of English food and cooking.
@You will soon realize that English food is simple, labour-saving, economical
and most importantly pleasing to cooks as well as diners. I hope that
this site, focusing on the historical aspects of each recipe and ingredient,
will strengthen family bonds and encourage more people to plan dinner
parties at home.
